It's time for my first official review for this blog, and it's a line that I'm really excited to talk about!
I ordered a trial kit of the Minon Amino Moist basic skincare line from Amazon Japan. This ran me about 890yen for the complete set as pictured. In Japan, samples are hardly ever free. Cosmetics companies want to make a buck on everything they produce! Fair enough. In this set you get a week's worth of the products to test out before you decide if the full sizes are worth your money.
Just a little bit about the set before I get into the details of each product. All of the products here are fragrance-free, and legit have no scent to speak of. This is good news for people who are sensitive to fragrance as an ingredient or just don't enjoy products that are scented. The products are made with a combination of 9 moisturizing amino acids and 2 pure ones. They are fragrance-free, paraben-free, dye-free, alcohol-free, have low acidity, and have been continuous-use tested and patch tested on subjects with dry and/or sensitive skin.
So without further ado, let's take a look at the products!

The first step is the Moist Milky cleanse. There's 20g worth of product in this little tube. This milky lotion can be applied to your made up face to remove makeup. Squeeze out a dab about 2cm in diameter on your dry palm and slather away. Honestly, I did this step whether I was wearing makeup or not because the way it made my skin feel after rinsing it off was heavenly. My face felt soft, smooth, and silky. I couldn't keep my hands off myself! With oil cleansers I find that I want to immediately use my foam cleanser to get rid of that slick oily feeling, but with this milky cleanse I could have stopped there. I would definitely buy a full size of this product when I run out of cleansing oil!

The second step is the Gentle wash whip. You get 25ml of product, so this one will last you slightly longer than the milky cleanse. This is a typical pump foam cleanser that saves you the step of having to rub your hands together to get that nice foam. I love cleansers like this because I'm lazy and anything extra I have to do turns me off. You need about 2-3 pumps o product to sufficiently cover your face. The foam is a very light consistency, not like a foam hand soap that comes out kind of thick and almost looking like a dollop of Cool Whip. I enjoyed the consistency because I felt like my face was getting clean without feeling like I was about to shave my pregnancy-beard. The best part is that this product doesn't suck away that soft, smooth, and silky feeling the milky cleanse gives you. After rinsing, my face still felt irresistibly touchable. This step I would definitely buy the full size of!

The third step is the Moist Charge Lotion II. You get 20ml worth of product. This was honestly the most disappointing step in the process. After such a great experience with the cleansing process, applying the lotion ruined that amazing soft texture. The lotion itself is a thin, clear liquid that is just slightly thicker in consistency than your average toner but it basically looks like toner. It's just sold as moisturizing lotion. Upon application and massaging it into my skin, I started feeling that icky sticky tacky feeling that some lotions leave behind. By the end of it, I felt like my face had been slathered in jam by an unruly toddler. You absolutely have to use a cream or gel cream after using this to get rid of that nasty feeling (and so your hair doesn't stick to your face for the rest of the evening). While it does moisturize in a way, I just don't think any product should leave that feeling behind, and there are definitely better lotions out there that will do the job without making it easier for your face to collect lint. 10/10 would NOT buy the full size of this product.

The fourth and final step is the Moist Charge Milk. You only get two little sample-size sachets of this product (about .5g), which is majorly disappointing. However, this is one of Minon's most popular products so I guess they just really don't want to waste product on samples when you could be buying the full size. This is a cream-type moisturizer that at first glance looks like a thin milky consistency, but once you start rubbing it into your face you realize that it has the thick consistency of a cream. This texture is super helpful for those with dry skin because lighter moisturizers just won't cut it when your skin is flaking off like a French pastry. I was pleasantly surprised by how well the cream erased the yucky sticky feeling from the lotion and it definitely did the job of moisturizing my skin. I can see why this is one of Minon's most popular products. I would definitely buy the full size version!
To conclude, I'm satisfied with my purchase of the trial kit. I'm glad the option exists because while I was 100% happy with 3 out of 4 products, I'm grateful I didn't have to spend my hard-earned money on a full-size of that lotion! I would replace that step with a better product and continue to use the other three. I think I am most impressed with the two cleansing steps and I REALLY want to go out right now and buy the tube of cleansing milk. I'd love to try out their sheetmasks as well but they are a bit pricey.
I would definitely recommend this line to anyone with a sensitive, dry, or combination skin type. It's safe to use during pregnancy as well so mama's-to-be can moisturize away!
