Puresmile Essence Mask Yogurt Series

Let's face it, PureSmile masks can be less than impressive. While they have a wide variety of masks available in all different scents, designs, and ingredients AND they are very affordable (seriously, most masks from PureSmile are about $1 USD), they're not necessarily the most effective or pleasant.

I've tried number of PureSmile masks over time and was never really wow'd by any of them. It was a PureSmile mask that broke my face out into a bumpy, red, itchy rash the first time I ever used a sheet mask. Why I continued to try them after that experience I'll never know.

Then, I ran across this series of masks at Don Quijote, the yogurt series. There are 5 varieties in this series: plain, strawberry, mixed fruit, white grape, and apple mango. I was only able to find the plain, strawberry, and apple mango so I grabbed those and spent 108 yen on each mask. I was mainly attracted by the packaging and intrigued by the yogurt. While I wasn't expecting much from these masks, they really surprised me!

I'm not about to write a rave where I chant about how amazing these masks are and how they will completely change your skin into gorgeous flawless baby soft angel skin. That won't happen with any sheet mask you use to be honest. However, I am going to talk about how for just around $1, you get a nice burst of hydration without a bunch of heavy, hard to tap in essence. The essence these masks leave behind is thin, but enough to do the job it is supposed to do. I actually have come to prefer thin essences like this and the essence in Lululun masks over thick, heavy, sticky, creamy, overabundant essences in masks. It just takes less time to absorb into your skin and your face feels fresh and light.

Onto the ingredients. Each mask contains yogurt extract, of course, along with vitamin E, collagen, and hyaluronic acid. It does contain fragrance, but there are no dyes, parabens, or alcohol. As a mama-to-be I appreciate that there are some PureSmile masks like these that I can use. I don't always want to break the bank buying super expensive packages of masks just to avoid parabens.

These masks claim to be suitable for all skin types and effective in all 4 seasons. I'm not sure how well these would fair for super dry skin in the dead of winter, however. Many people with really dry skin tend to need that thicker, creamier essence in a mask. I do think that this mask is definitely good for those with combination, oily, or sensitive skin (though if you tend to be sensitive to fragrance, maybe use with caution).

Okay, so lastly, I know what you're thinking. "Ew, why would I put something that smells like yogurt on my face? Won't it smell sour?" Surprisingly, I found the scents of all of these masks to be quite pleasant, almost refreshing. The yogurt scent isn't sour, but sweet and maybe a little tangy. Mostly sweet. It is very light and refreshing, which makes this a great mask to use in the morning. Don't be put off by the prospect of your face smelling like yogurt! It's honestly a lot nicer than it sounds.

I would definitely purchase these masks again. In fact, I already have. I picked up a couple this morning and I have the entire yogurt series sitting in my Amazon shopping cart. I have a hard time finding the mixed fruit and white grape varieties so I decided to order them. I'd recommend giving these a try! They're affordable and do a pretty good job.
